Cannes Lions Archive

The Cannes Lions festival is the biggest annual awards event for marketing and Advertising professionals. Brighton agency Makemedia hired me to work with their client to re-design their subscription service: The Cannes Lions Archive - the festival's main digital product.

Working directly with the product manager and the development team at Makemedia I was responsible for UX and Visual design.

Taking the user research that the client had already undertaken, we used concept maps, product life-cycles to under stand the customer base and determine their most important needs. Then via lots of collaborative sketching we created and prototyped an all new IA and interface allowing powerful faceted searching and filtering whilst remaining simple enough for the casual browser. I then worked alongside client and agency development teams to help produce and release the final product. A major part of the new direction was to tell the stories behind the pieces of work in the archive better and to highlight the people behind them.

The redesigned Archive has been received very well by old and new customers alike, causing a large uptake in subscriptions and continued internal investment.
